Valderrama was once the venue for the season finale. Since then, Valderrama had an off-on relationship to the European and DP World Tours but was welcome back in 2017. This short, but very difficult track has seen wins for Sergio Garcia twice, Christiaan Begzuidenhout and John Catlin.

Media attention was focused on Otaegui’s October victory.

The 29-year old won the event with the lowest score in eight years of the event’s history. He also equalled the largest winning margin. Otaegui, an ex-LIV player, won the event on a mainstream tour.

His history almost cost him his overnight lead. refused to tweet any of his impressive play in retaliation to the overturning of his injunction before the Scottish Open.

Valders was fed up and Greg Norman’s company approached them in September to discuss their options. The venue is no longer on the DP World Tour schedule.

The PGA Tour will soon lose one of its most beloved tracks.

According to Golfweek El Camaleon Golf Club in Mexico is now ready to join LIV Golf Series after 16 years. Reports suggest that it will host the first LIV event in 2023.

Norman designed the organization. It already has strong links with Carlos Ortiz and Abraham Ancer, two of the most well-known Mexican players, so it seems natural to add them to the new 14 event roster.

Originally an alternative event, the Mayakoba Golf Classic became a PGA Tour event at El Camaleon. Viktor Hovland is currently the current world number 12 and has been a back-to-back winner.

While the PGA Tour announced many enhancements to their 2023 schedule, they didn’t include Mayakoba, making it a prime target of the rebel tour.
