One of the golfers who snapped at his opponent on Twitter over the weekend admitted that he had been drinking and “should have done better.” Then he turned off his account.
The fans poured beer on Chase Koepka after he aced the par-3 12th hole, the only other one in LIV Golf’s brief history.
Eddie Pepperell, a DP World Tour golfer, responded to a tweet by saying that the raucous scenes were similar to those at the 16th hole of the WM Phoenix Open held in Scottsdale.
Pepperell, a Twitter user who is well-known, wrote: “This has happened at Scottsdale for many years, so I’m not sure how LIV will really change things here.”
Richard Bland of LIV Golf responded by taking a swipe at Pepperell’s time on the European Tour.
“Ed..tell me where in DP World I can find a hole similar to this?” In 22yrs I haven’t seen any. “But maybe after 15 minutes of touring you’ll know something different,” his tweet read.
Pepperell’s response was prompted by:

Imagine it is simple: in 15 minutes, I have won more events in comparison to your 22 years.

The two reconciled on Monday after Bland acknowledged that he had been drinking at the time he posted the tweet and Pepperell noted he didn’t take the comment personally.
“Unfortunately, I had too many last Ed. Sorry for what I said. Bland said, “I should have known better than to tweet while under the influence.”
As of Tuesday morning Bland has been deactivated.
Bland was 32nd in the LIV event held in Australia. He had only one top-10 result during the first campaign of the circuit, coming in fourth at Bangkok. Bland’s claim to fame was winning the 2021 British Masters in his 478th tour start at age 48.
