Fowler wanted to be the first PGA Tour player to shoot 59 since Scottie Schreffler shot 59 at the 2020 Northern Trust. Jim Furyk, who shot 12 under par at TPC Riverside in 2016, was the only player to shoot 58 on Tour.
Denny McCarthy also shot 60 in the first round. Fowler’s not the only one who has reached that milestone so far this week.
