Rory McIlroy was Titleist before Taylormade and Nike.
McIlroy used a ProV1x and Titleist woods, irons, Vokey wedges, and a Scotty Cameron Newport GSS proto at the 2012 PGA Championship.
McIlroy practiced at Austin Country Club on Tuesday, 16 days before the Masters’ opening round. This was in preparation for this week’s WGC/Dell Technologies Match Play.
McIlroy was once more holding a Scotty Cameron Newport on the greens.
According to reports, McIlroy had made drastic equipment changes following a scouting trip at Augusta National. Now we know what these changes are.

Country Club Collection claims Rory’s gear change doesn’t involve him as a driver. It appears that Rory “tore it up” at Augusta with the gear switch, and it will soon be revealed

McIlroy isn’t the only one to have played with a Scotty Cameron putter ever since signing with TaylorMade. The four-time major champion used a Scotty Cameron GSS Chromatic Bronze prototype at the 2020 Olympics.
McIlroy’s performance on the greens has been poor so far this season. McIlroy ranks 173rd (-.429) in SG: Putting and 134th overall in Total Putting. McIlroy was unable to make the cut at the Players Championship due to his flat stick being icy cold. He has one top 25 spot in 2023 (T-2 Arnold Palmer Invitational).
Jonathan Wall from Golf.com reported the switch immediately and McIlroy tweeted that he was trying to “rekindle a lost love.”
Confirmed by Rory McIlroy: Scotty Cameron Newport GSS, a putter that he hasn’t used before — it’s a brand new one. If you like that kind of minutiae, Rory, JT, and Scottie now have the stamp on their putters.

McIlroy placed Vokey wedges in his bag back in January at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. This event would see McIlroy win over Patrick Reed.
From 50 to 125 yards, he ranks sixth.
McIlroy is in Group 3 this week, and will be playing Scott Stallings Wednesday. The match starts at 11:26 a.m. ET.
