Rory McIlroy was worried that he would be too far in the rear to make up ground at the Horizon Irish Open on Friday. It turns out that he has a good chance of winning again at The K Club on Sunday.
McIlroy matched the lowest round of the day with a 6-under-66, moving to 11-under and third place alone. He was eight shots behind Hurly in the third round, but on Sunday he will only be two shots behind him.
McIlroy stated that “it didn’t feel like a charging.” It felt like an excellent day of golf. I got plenty of looks, and converted a few. That’s probably the biggest difference between yesterday and today. It was a really good day of golf and I also needed some help from the leaders.

Both Shubhankar and Jordan Smith were at 13 under par after the second round, but both struggled on Saturday. Smith is one shot behind Long at 12 under and has dropped only one shot. Sharma is now T-4 with 10 under after being 3 over.
Long, 28, was in good form as he carded a 2-under-70 to take the lead. He is ranked 252nd on the Official World Golf Ranking and has never won a tournament on the DP World Tour. His best finish in this season was 30th at the Kenya Open. Why is he still playing well after 54 holes of golf?
Long explained, “I practiced hard during those four weeks of vacation, trying to figure out what went wrong and putting my mind on it.” “I discovered some things which are important to me, like having a game plan. This year I played well. “It wasn’t horrible, but these guys are just too good to be mediocre.”
Long, Smith and other players will be chasing McIlroy on Sunday.
Long replied, “Yeah. I’m looking forward to tomorrow.” “Obviously, the first two rounds, there weren’t many people watching my team today, but there were a lot and there will be a lot tomorrow,” Long said. It’s going be fun. I know it.
