Good morning golf fans! We are getting closer to Tiger’s return in the Match’s latest edition.

1. QBE Shootout will be a mixed team event

This week, the LPGA Tour’s Doug Ferguson Nelly Korda (AP) and Lexi Thompson represent the LPGA Tour in the QBE Shootout. They will be surrounded by many others next year.

  • “The QBE Shootout will be a mixed-team event, starting in 2023. This is the first time such a format has been on the schedule since 1999’s JC Penney Classic.”
  • “Players were informed about the change during a meeting last Wednesday in the Bahamas.”

2. Three top JGTO finishers will be awarded DP World Tour membership

Report PGATour.com staff report The DP World Tour (and PGA TOUR) announced today a landmark partnership with Japan Golf Tour Organization. This will see the JGTO Order of Merit’s top three players earn membership to the DP World Tour for each season that follows, starting with the 2022-23 campaign.

  • “The formal pathway further enhances existing global pathways system as the top 10 players in DP World Tour’s Race To Dubai Rankings (in addition to those exempt) will earn cards on PGA TOUR beginning with the 2024 season as part of an operational joint venture partnership between PGA TOUR & DP World Tour, announced in June.”
  • “In addition, these new formal paths, which also include access to DP World Tour Qualification School for top players not otherwise exempted, the JGTO will collaborate with the DP World Tour, PGA TOUR and other key business areas including strategic development, and commercial growth. There will be a commitment to ISPS HANDA – CHAMPIONSHIP next April 20-23 and 2023 at PGM Ishioka GC, Omitama, Japan.

3. ICYMI: Zack Fischer’s big day in Argentina

Golf Channel’s Brentley Romaine A spot in next summer’s Open Championship was booked by the Golf Channel on Sunday in Argentina.”

  • “Zack Fischer (a Korn Ferry Tour member) won the Visa Argentine Open by a shot to Nordelta Golf Club, Buenos Aires. This win earned him an exemption to the 2023 Open at Royal Liverpool.
  • Fischer said, “I’m just beyond the moon right now.” He will make his major-championship debut in England July 20-23.

  • “During the 2022 U.S. Open Rory McIlroy woke to a text message by Sergio Garcia asking him to “shut down” about LIV Golf.
  • “Rory said that he received the text message during an interview with The Irish Independent. He stated, “He basically told me to stop talking about LIV,blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahhh,blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah”
  • The 33-year old said that he was “very offended” and sent him back with a few daggers. That was it.

5. Alana Uriell, who was devastated by DQ at Q-Series is determined to bounce back

Golf Channel’s Brentley Romaine It was an emotional 48 hours for Alana Uriell.”

  • “Two days prior, the 26-year-old pro golfer had made one of the most costly mistakes of her career. She signed for an incorrect score, and was then disqualified from the LPGA Q-Series. She was now tasked to make sense of it all.
  • Uriell said that he is still reeling from the entire thing to GolfChannel.com Sunday afternoon.
  • She said, “I have never done this before. I’ve never signed for lower scores and been disqualified.” “I don’t believe I’ve ever been disqualified. This is a new event, and it’s also terrible timing. It could have been any normal LPGA event, and I would be like: Well, I lost a week, but next week I can compete. There was more at stake and that’s what really matters in this whole thing.
