Rose Zhang is only getting better.
The 20-year old had already been the number one female golfer in amateur competition for 141 weeks. This included the US Girls Junior Championship, the US Women’s Amateur Championship, the NCAA Championship as an individual, and the low amateur at both the 2020 ANA Inspired and the 2022 Women’s British Open.
The former Stanford student, Jennifer Kupcho, became the first LPGA pro to win in her debut after 1951. She beat 2022 Chevron championship winner Jennifer Kupcho, via a play-off.
Zhang, who had won the Mizuho Open in America, then played the Women’s PGA Championships at Baltusrol. After being within a shot at the turn she ended up 8th and three shots behind the champion Ruoning Li.
Zhang and her fans are now ready to face Pebble Beach in the US Women’s Open. This elite event is a surprisingly popular one, with oddsmakers making her the favorite ahead of Jin Young Ko and Leona Maguire.
Zhang, who has the women’s record for the Carmel Cup at nine-under-63, went back to the par-3 7th hole, where she birdied on that record day.
Look what happened to the tee-peg after she hit her shot!

The tee is straight up and settles into her back pocket right on the yardage sheet!
Trickery? Sorcery? What is it?
Rose Zhang’s hype has just gotten bigger.
