Sam Burns, a new Odyssey putter was seen on the East Lake green. Sam Burns told us he was not sure whether the new Odyssey putter would be used this week. However, we did notice that it was the sole flatstick in Sam’s bag.
The new putter has a #7 S shape, but a different insert on the face and a black finish. The insert on the face looks completely different than anything Odyssey currently offers and looks almost like an old White Hot Pro insert or DFX.
The sole plate looks large and is attached to the body by a few screws. This means that there’s probably some weight inside. There are also two large round weights near the face of the sole and a blank area for a badge between them. Sam’s putter features three sight lines: one at the top, and two down the fangs. I think that these lines frame the ball nicely.
This new putter does not appear to be equipped with Odyssey’s popular Stroke Lab, but instead looks like it is fitted with a standard steel shaft. Odyssey has not commented on the technology or details of this new putter.
