LA QUINTA (Calif.) — For Jon Rahm every tournament on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour is more than a chance to win. It’s an opportunity to win.
“I’m out there for the win. After his second win at The American Express, Rahm stated that he had said it many times. No matter what I feel. Sometimes it is prettier and better than others. “I’m happy that the last few looked as good as they did.”
Rahm, who has nine wins on PGA Tour, nine on DP World Tour and one major title in the 2021 U.S. Open at age 28, is undoubtedly one of the best players in the game. As his four wins from six international starts indicate, the Arizona State Spanish star seems to be improving. Rahm believes that the current roll could just be the beginning of a better future.
“In my head, I feel like there are many things I can do better. Rahm stated that this is the mindset I should have. “I work hard to achieve what I do. Every round I played I made mistakes. It’s rare that I have played a perfect round.
Rahm is the No. 1 player in his career. Rahm is the No. 3 player in the Official World Golf Ranking, a system he recently expressed frustration with. This is a throwback at Kobe Bryant, a former Los Angeles Lakers star. Bryant called striving to improve every day the “Mamba mentality”, and Rahm shares that mentality.
Rahm said that the former Los Angeles Lakers star was “someone to learn from”, “Work ethic is more important than talent any day of the week. I think I have a hard work ethic, and I put in a lot of effort.
Rahm’s victory in the American Express tournament Sunday was a one-shot victory over Davis Thompson, a rookie on the PGA Tour. It also reaffirms his love for the American Southwest both personally and professionally. Rahm is now among 10 golfers who have won The American Express title at minimum twice. He’s also won both a Farmers Insurance title as well as a U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, San Diego. He was No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking at Arizona State. He was ranked No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking 2015, and he won the Pac-12 individual champions 2016. This is where he met Kellie and saw the game flourish.
“Having played college at Arizona State, we have played a lot of our tournaments here in Arizona and California. Rahm said that Southern California is his favorite. “For some reason, it’s just me. Palm Springs, I don’t mean Scottsdale, is as comfortable as it gets. It’s almost the same thing. Golf is very similar.
“It was likely because I am so comfortable. I like the lifestyle. This area is a favorite of my wife and me. Our children are happy. She’s happy. It’s much easier to play golf.
This week, Rahm has the opportunity to show his Southern California love as the PGA Tour returns from Torrey Pines. Rahm is comfortable on all types of courses. He won the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Maui, and he was 27 under in the wins. Opens.
“I feel very healthy and comfortable in my swing. Rahm stated that he is going to Torrey because he feels confident and comfortable there. If I keep hitting the ball off the tee, and my iron game stays at this level I will have a great chance of winning at that course. It’s an emotional week that I remember every time I go. It’s a wonderful way to be. It holds a special place in my heart.”
