SAN DIEGO – Scott Brown, a veteran pro golfer, has had a busy 24 hour.
After winning the 2013 Puerto Rico Open, the champion withdrew from Korn Ferry Tour’s Bahamas Abaco Classic on Monday. He then flew to sunny Torrey Pines for the first group of No. 1. at the North Course of the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open.
This is the life of a 39-year-old pro journeyman who has a limited status and is not considered a champion. 150 in the FedEx Cup 2021-22. (Brown was ranked No. 193 in the last season.
Brown, who was the second alternate, was admitted to the Farmers after John Huh withdrew Monday evening at 5 p.m. PST. Huh did not give a reason for his withdrawal this week but he was also a WD last Monday at the American Express, when he mentioned an elbow injury.
Scott Brown was able to make the cut at The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic, Korn Ferry Tour this Week (played on Sun.-Wed), but withdrew Monday evening after he entered the Farmers Insurance Open field as an alternate (John Huh WD).

This week is a rare one in which the Korn Ferry Tour’s event started on Sunday (Wednesday end) and the PGA Tour began on Wednesday (Saturday end).
Brown, who had only two starts in the fall portion on the PGA Tour schedule for the fall, shot 1-under 143 in two rounds in Bahamas. He made the cut by two strokes and was T34 when he withdrew.
According to a PGA Tour staffer, Brown arrived in San Diego Tuesday at 9 p.m. He has an 8-time career best of T-9 at Torrey Pines in 2019, while missing the cut five other times.
Brown made the decision to fly to the West Coast and bail out of the Bahamas. The purse at the Bahamas is $1 million and the winner will bank $180,000. This compares to $8.7 Million at Torrey Pines, and a winner’s share at $1.556 million.
Brown had three birdies in his 10 first holes, and was 2 under through 15. After his round, this story will be updated.
