Nov, 2022

HOUSTON – Scottie Scheffler admitted last season was his first fall season. He had never felt comfortable during the first part of the season, even back at Texas College.

Scheffler suggested that Scheffler believed it might have been football season.

However, he was able to change his fortunes at the World Wide Technology Championship in Mayakoba last season, where he finished fourth. He tied for second at the Houston Open the following week, and his round of the week was Friday’s 8-under 62.

Scheffler held the lead going into Sunday. However, Jason Kokrak shot 5 over in the final round to defeat Scheffler by 2 points. Five starts later Scheffler won his first career title. The rest is history.

He was named Player of the Year by the PGA Tour. He won the Masters four times and was second at the 2022 Tour Championship to Rory McIlroy.

Scheffler is back in Houston to play the 2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course. He tees off at 8.13 am. ET Thursday, with a completely different perspective than a year ago.

Scheffler stated that last year was the first year where I played well and that it was a good feeling to go into the offseason knowing where my game was at. “I felt like I didn’t have to do a lot of things, but was able just to fine-tune them.” I played really well.”

Scheffler is the favorite to win the 2022 Houston Open. Scheffler, despite having had some difficulties recently with his putting, finished T-3 in Mayakoba by firing a final round 9-under-62. Scheffler began to experiment with his equipment after suffering losses in the Tour Championship final round and going 0-3-1 at the Presidents Cup.

switched to putters before the CJ Cup in South Carolina. McIlroy took his top spot in world rankings, and he tied him for 45th place.

Scheffler decided to return to his flat stick after the second round in Mexico last week.

Scheffler stated, “I’m always trying new things and working hard.” “I have always been a man who makes small changes at a given time. At the CJ Cup, I switched putters. Although I was hitting some good putts, it wasn’t going in my hole. It was the same as last week. After Friday’s round, it was like “Well, let’s see if it is me or the putter.”

“I returned to my old putter, which I feel comfortable with. I putted quite well over the weekend so I am using it again this week. It seemed like a bit of an experiment.

Scheffler is second in Strokes Gained Off the Tee this season, but is 190th (of 206) for putting. The Houston Open could be his springboard to another great season if he does indeed find his stroke in Mexico.

Scheffler loves Texas. He is a Dallas native and finished tied for second in the Houston Open, first in WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play and lost in the playoff (Charles Schwab Challenge).

Scheffler has seen a lot of changes in his life since last year but he is still a golfer who strives for perfection.

Scheffler stated, “Last week’s golf was solid and it certainly gives me a bit of confidence.” “I’m still working on the same things I did last year around this time. It will pay off, so it is worth my while.”
