Nov, 2022

The PGA Tour is back in the United States for three weeks, with the 2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open.

Visit to the Lone Star State is a great way to meet many big names, including four players in the Top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking.

Scottie Scheffler is ranked second in OWGR. 12 Sam Burns, No. 14 Tony Finau, No. Hideki Matsuyama. Scheffler had a lot of success in Texas this season, winning the WGC/Dell Technologies Match Play at Austin Country Club. He also finished second to Burns in a playoff at Colonial Country Club’s Charles Schwab Challenge.

Scheffler finished with a score of 62 on Sunday. This was his career-best last-round score. He tied for third at Mayakoba’s World Wide Technology Championship. He would have been able to return to No. 1 if he had finished second. He finished at No. 1, but was two strokes shy of defeating Rory McIlroy.

Burns, who was T-7 at the CJ Cup South Carolina, will be making his third season debut. Finau failed to make the cut last week at Mayakoba in his season debut. Matsuyama has reached the top in three of his three starts so far this season. His highest finish was T-25 at Fortinet Championship.

This is the first event in Texas of five on the PGA Tour schedule 2022-23. The next four events are scheduled for 2023. This is also the second-to last official PGA Tour event. Next week, the RSM Classic will be in Georgia.

Jason Kokrak, who left for LIV Golf but won the event last season, will not return. Scheffler was tied for second with Kevin Tway, two shots behind Kokrak.

Since the 1940s, the event has been a staple on the PGA Tour schedule. Several courses have hosted it. The Houston Open will be hosted by Memorial Park Golf Course. It will play to 7,412 yard and have a par 70 layout. This is the third consecutive year.

It was the last event in April before the Masters, which was held from 2007-18.
