Scottie Schifler was the talk of the 2023 Hero World Challenge because of his new putter. He was praised for his clutch putting all week. It took him 71 holes to miss a putt within five feet at Albany Golf Club, Bahamas.
Scheffler parred even the par-3 17th hole, and he shot a 4-under-68 in the final round to win Tiger’s Tournament for the first ever time.
Scheffler took the lead in Saturday’s event, with a two-eagle and four-birdie third round 65.
Scheffler’s first win since May’s Players Championship is his first trophy after finishing as runner-up at the Hero World Challenges. He ended the week with 20 under par, three shots better than Sepp Straka and four better than Justin Thomas.
Straka and Jordan Spieth both cut the lead by two, but couldn’t get any closer.
Viktor Hovland was the winner of the round of day, as he had a par score after 54 holes. The two-time defending champion, who had a 73-73 – 70 over the first three rounds, exploded on Sunday. Two eagles, six birdies and double-digit par was his score through 15 holes. A birdie, birdie, and birdie finish with three holes left would have earned him a 59. He cooled down with a bogey at the next hole. However, he still managed to post a 9-under score.
