Thursday was the first day of the second highest event on the PGA Tour’s 2023 schedule.
The WM Phoenix Open will feature a purse of $20,000,000 in February. Scottie Scheffler is the headliner of the first wave of commitments.
This tournament was among four events that were named October as “elevated”, with a huge increase in prize money. Sentry Tournament of Champions is another elevated event that will take place next week in Hawaii. It has a purse of $15,000,000.
Pat Williams, 2023 tournament chair at TPC Scottsdale also announced that Sam Burns and Xander Schauffele will be in field.

Scheffler won the Phoenix Open in 2022 for his first PGA Tour victory. In six more starts, Scheffler won three more times, including at the Masters. He rose to No. He rose to No. 1 in the world ranking, and finished his season at the top of the Tour’s money.
