Scotty Cameron releases limited edition putters a few time a year. The clubs are often a combination of popular PGA Tour putters with unique colors or finishes. Concept X 7.2 LTD, the latest limited edition offering from Scotty Cameron, is a stylish blend of a mallet shape and a hosel and weight configuration into a club sure to turn some heads.
The Concept X 7.2 LTD is made from 303 stainless for a soft touch, and has wing-style extensions on the toe and heel. Golfers will notice that the outer-facing side of the wing has a pair lines designed to be as wide as a golfball, and three “cherry Bombs” along the top line. These alignment features will make it easier for you to roll-start your putts on the intended line.
The Concept X 7.2 LTD is made with a 6061-aluminum sole plate instead of steel. By removing weight from the center of the sole, more weight is shifted to the perimeter for improved stability. This also creates the discretionary weight required to add adjustable sole weights. Fitters can adjust the swing weight of the putter by adding different weights to these spots.
The Concept X 7.2 LTD’s hitting area has been treated with dual milling, just like the Super Select putters. The first deep milling creates a low pitch sound and softens the feel of impact. A second milling removes the points created by the previous milling to give the ball a more consistent roll.
The Concept X 7.2 Ltd has a moderate toe-hang, unlike many mallet putters which are face-balanced. This is due to the plumber’s neck hosel. The neck configuration of the Concept X 7.2 LTD is similar to that of many Cameron Newport-style blade-style putters. It should allow the Concept X 7.2 LTD to feel and swing like a blade with a heel-toe balance, but still provide the stability and forgiveness a mallet.
Tour Black is complemented by a stepless shaft in black and a black pistol grip. Titleist authorized shops will have a limited supply of Concept X 7.2 Ltd putters starting on September 15.
