Sepp Straka flirts in history on his way to winning the 2023 John Deere classic

Jul, 2023

Sepp Straka missed a historic opportunity, but still won the trophy.

After an 11-under-par start on 14 holes, Straka made a double-bogey at the 18th to finish with 63 points and the clubhouse leader. Straka was 2 shots ahead of Brendon Smalley and Alex Todd, the last group to play the day who were just halfway through their back nine.

Straka’s 21-under par was enough to secure his second career PGA Tour victory, following his first win at the Honda Classic last year. Straka started his season as runner-up at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He has finished in top 10s or top 25s at 23 events.

Todd (68), Smalley (67) and Ludvig (63), and Adam Schenk (84) finished T-2 with 19 under.
