CASARES (Spain) — With just one day to go until the matches, a little Solheim Cup History has been made.
The Europeans will be looking to win their third Solheim Cup in a row when the 2023 matches are played at Finca Cortesin Golf Club, in Spain. However, a strong American team stands in their way.
Stacy Lewis will lead the United States as its youngest captain. Patty Sheehan, who was 45 in 2002, held the record. The youngest captain ever? Catrin Nilmark, Europe’s 2003 leader at 36 years and 13 days, is the youngest captain.
Since 1990, 17 Solheim Cups have been played around the globe. The U.S. has a slight edge in the 444 matches played from Colorado to Germany, Florida, to Scotland. The Americans won 196 games to Europe’s 18,1 victories, with 67 of those matches being tied. The two teams are separated in all time by only 15 points: U.S. : 229 1/2 points; Europe: 214 1/2.
