Spotted: Jimmy Walker’s Callaway Paradym driver, 3-wood with AutoFlex shafts

Apr, 2023

At the RBC Heritage, we spotted Jimmy Walker on the range with a new driver and 3-wood setup. Walker told our own Andrew Tursky that he has been hitting these woods and shafts for a few weeks now but has been really loving the set up. He actually got the shafts from his club pro back home to try and the feel is much different than anything he has played before, but the six-time PGA Tour winner is hitting them really well.

The driver is a 9-degree Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond head with an AutoFlex SF505xx shaft installed and Jimmy said it isn’t tipped and at standard length. The adaptor is set in the neutral position and at -1 degree.

AutoFlex shafts are famous for being very lightweight and very flexible in order to increase ball speed, but the company claims that dispersion is just as tight as a more traditional model. We have seen a few AutoFlex shafts out on tour, and Jimmy has the 57-gram SF505xx in driver that is recommended for swing speeds between 110 and 120 mph.

Walker’s 3-wood is a Callaway Paradym 15-degree head set in the more upright “draw” setting and again at -1 degree of loft. The 3-wood is also using an AutoFlex SF505xx and installed with no tipping and standard length. The fairway wood version of the SF505xx is listed at 1 gram lighter than the driver; AutoFlex doesn’t list torque specs.
