GolfWRX saw a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Pro Blue shaft at the CadenceBank Houston Open. 1K Pro Blue will be a mid launch, low spin shaft, in keeping with Mitsubishi’s tradition profiles. It will be joining the 1K lineup that currently includes 1K Pro White and 1K Pro Orange. One doesn’t need to be a clairvoyant if one hopes to see a 1K Pro Red in future.
Tensei 1K’s foundation is 1K fiber. This is three times thinner that traditional carbon kevlar. This fiber weave is tighter and more consistent. 1K Pro Blue will also feature Mitsubishi’s dual-phase Xlink Tech Resin, which creates a stronger and more responsive structure. A boron fiber tip creates a stable but responsive shaft.
Mitsubishi Chemical was active on the forums, answering questions about the new Blue.
GolfWRXer jacobanderson123 posed the question, “When will these be available for retail @MITSUBISHI CHEMICAL?” Mitsubishi replied, “This is quite literally our first ever tour of prototypes.” It’s still a long way off!
Mitsubishi responded to another question by saying that 1K Pro Blue would “launch and spin a hair more than Ka’ili Blue” and feel stiffer in its midsection.
We also saw Hideki Matsuyama running on the shaft in Houston. We are not aware of any plans by Hideki Matsuyama to play it, but will keep our eyes open.
We reached out to Mitsubishi Chemical to get their comments.
