Putters with long plumbers necks are starting to show up on the PGA Tour more and more lately. The longneck is a great way to get the look and feel of a blade while taking some of the toe hang out of the putter or make it entirely face balanced.
We spotted a pair of new Toulon Design Austin Longnecks on the putting green at the 2023 Fortinet Championship this week. Both putters are new Austin heads that have much taller plumbers neck attached to them and are finished in either a black or bronze hue. These putters are tour only at the moment, so it will be interesting if they come to retail and what features come along with them. Additionally, these faces don’t have the retail Deep Diamond Milling going for a shallower and more traditional pattern for what could be a firmer feel.
The soles do not have any interchangeable weights or single-weight plates that previous Toulon Design putters have had. This probably means that you won’t be able to dial in your desired head weight without some lead tape.
Both putters have single sight lines on the flange as well as rounded bumpers and edges for a softer look. The back cavity no longer contains any plastic badges or Odyssey swirl inserts for a very clean and updated look.
