By updating the dimple patterns to improve aerodynamics, and softening up the cover, Srixon’s updated Q Star Tour ball is designed to give recreational golfers a soft feel and solid distance, as well as more spin on the greens.

The Deep Dive: A pro golfer such as Brooks Koepka, or Keegan Bradly hits a shot and it stays hit. They have elite clubhead speeds and hit tee and iron shots consistently almost every time. They demand a ball that can maximize their speed.

Weekend golfers want a soft-feeling ball that provides distance off the tee and spin around the greens. Weekend players prefer a ball with softer feel that offers distance and spin on the greens. Srixon’s fifth-generation Q-Star Tour is designed to meet this need.

Srixon made three major changes to the Q-Star Tour in 2024. The first is the core which has been gradational. Srixon’s Fast Layer Core core transitions from a soft center to a firmer outer layer. The Q-Star Tour can behave more like a multi-core golf ball, transferring energy from a moderate to a powerful swing.

The core of the Q-Star Tour is covered by a thin, soft urethane layer. Srixon has used a soft urethane for this generation of Q-Star Tour. This should allow the grooves on wedges and short-irons to better grab the urethane and produce more spin when hitting shots with scoring clubs and greenside shots.

Srixon coats each ball with a special coating called Spin Skin, which enhances spin around the green. The Q-Star Tour has a rubbery feeling and doesn’t affect iron or tee shots. The coating increases friction on short-game and wedge shots.

The cover is designed with 338 dimples, which are more aerodynamic and produce less drag. They also encourage lift. This combination of high ball speed, low drag and high launch should lead to more distance for recreational golfers.

The Q-Star Tour comes in three different Divide combinations, including the traditional white and yellow. Divide balls are yellow on half the ball, and the other color (red orange or blue) is on the opposite side. You can use the Divide design to help you align your ball when putting. It also helps to show how much spin a ball has during short-game shots. Divide balls are also used by many golfers to improve their putting technique.
