The Skinny: Srixon ZX5 Mk II (ZX5 LS Mk II), ZX5 Mk II (ZX7 Mk II) drivers have unique chassis designs that allow for greater ball speed and distance. The ZX5 Mk II offers more stability, while the ZX5 LS Mk II can be used for low spin and the ZX7 Mk II provides greater shot-shaping capabilities.

Deep Dive: The club’s face will flex when you hit a drive. This trampoline-like effect will increase ball speed and propel your shot farther. The effect decreases if you hit the ball outside of the center. Therefore, mis-hits won’t travel as far as well-struck shots, and your shot will curve further offline.

Srixon has been delivering the best trampoline-like effect allowed by USGA rules for many years. The new ZX5 Mk II driver, ZX5 LSM Mk II and ZX7 Mk II clubheads are more capable of providing off-center ball speed thanks to their unique design.

Rebound Frame is the key design feature. The seam around the face and surrounding area is rigid like other drivers. However, behind this is a ring made of more flexible titanium. Srixon stated that when a shot hits, the face bends like other drivers. The Rebound Frame chassis creates another flexible zone, which allows the entire hitting area to shift backwards and forwards. This results in increased ball speed across a larger portion of the face. Not only will golfers achieve excellent results with center-struck shots but their mis-hit shots won’t lose as much speed.

The ZX5 Mk II driver, ZX5 LS Mk II or ZX7 Mk II were built with Rebound Frame. This allows players or fitters to adjust the loft by one degree and the angle of the face by up to two degrees. The club’s body is stiffened by the addition of a series beams that run under the crown of carbon fiber.

The ZX5 Mk II driver, ZX5 LSM Mk II and ZX7 Mk II drivers all have a volume of 460 cubic centimeters and share the same technologies. However, they were made for different players and had adjustable sole weights that could be placed in different areas to produce different ball flight patterns.

To increase stability, the Srixon ZX5 Mk II includes a weight in its back. (David Dusek/Golfweek)

The ZX5 Mk II was made to be the most flexible and will appeal to the greatest number of players. It is a triangular 8-gram-weight in the back of its head. This pulls the center gravity down and back, which increases stability and promotes higher-flying shots.

Srixon ZX7 Mk II can have weights in the toe and heel that can be adjusted. (David Dusek/Golfweek)

Standard ZX7 Mk II has 4-gram and eight-gram weights. These can be inserted into the ports in the heel and toe. The club will have a draw bias if the 8-gram weight is placed in the heel port. However, if it’s in the toe port, it encourages fade. Srixon stated that the right and left adjustability can be as high as 20 yards.

Srixon also offers the ZX5 LS Mk II for those golfers who are prone to excessive spin. The ZX5 LS Mk II has the same shape, but the weight is now located in front of the leading edge. This moves the center of gravity forward and lowers spin. This produces shots that fly lower and higher than the ZX5 Mk II, but slightly higher than ZX7 Mk II. However, it has less spin.
