Steph Curry’s basketball achievements have earned him a lot of awards, but he is now catching up with his golf trophies due to his hard work in growing the sport.
The World Golf Hall of Fame has announced that Curry will receive the Charlie Sifford award at its induction next June. The award recognizes the recipients’ spirit and commitment to advancing diversity in golf.
This will be the first ceremony after Pinehurst Resort and Country Club officially opens their doors.
Padraig Harrington will join Tom Weiskopf Sandra Palmer Johnny Farrell Beverly Hanson and the other seven LPGA Founders to form the World Golf Hall of Fame Class of 2024.
Curry stated, “I am incredibly honored to have been chosen as this year’s Charlie Sifford award recipient and I am grateful to World Golf Hall of Fame in recognition of my passion for this sport.” Curry said, “I think we can grow golf by giving young golfers the same access, opportunity and equity that so many of us have on the golf course.”
Curry’s advocacy with the PGA Tour, and his guarantee in 2019 that he would fully fund both men’s and woman’s golf at Howard University over a six-year period has led to a variety of honors such as being named 2023’s Ambassador of Golf Award.
The U.S. Open field last year included no Black golfers.

This includes recognizing others like Steph who are committed to making golf a place for everyone.
