Steve Flesch has won the Ascension Charity Classic 2023.
Despite shooting a pair of 66s in the first two rounds, he started the final day two shots back of the lead at Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis but he quickly made a move, opening birdie-eagle-birdie-par-birdie-birdie.
The left-hander signed for a tournament record 62, and won his fourth PGA Tour Champions title at 19 under. Flesch also tied his career-low round with a 62. He completed the final 35 holes of the 54 hole tournament without a single bogey. This week, his son Griffen played.
Flesh won three consecutive top-10s this season in late May/June, then went on to win two WDs. In his last three appearances, he was T-58 and T-33 but found the magic in this week.
Kevin Sutherland, Y.E.Yang and Brett Quigley all had 64s during the first round. Montgomerie punctuated his round with his first Champions Tour hole-in one.
