Stewart Cink claims Tiger Woods practices — but nobody seems to be aware

Nov, 2023

LOS CABOS (Mexico) – Tiger Woods arrived at Diamante, the golf course where the professionals are playing this week. He has a restaurant that is named after him, and he’s building a third course of 18 holes. His every move was scrutinized.

The internet was ablaze with armchair experts analyzing whether he is ready for the Hero World Challenge, PNC Championship and whether his fans have to wait until February’s Genesis Invitational to watch him begin his latest comeback in pursuit of No. Sweet 16.

Stewart Cink was one of the players who spoke with Woods on his visit.

Cink’s understatement was the best of the year: “He doesn’t always tell you much.” “He was upbeat. He told me he had started to practice. I don’t even know why. “I don’t like to ask him because he is always afraid that you will tell everyone. So I just told him I was glad you were practicing.”

Cink did mention a topic in which Woods was particularly interested – PGA Tour Champions. Woods turns 48 on December 30, which is two years before he becomes eligible.

Cink commented, “It seems like he is excited about it.” It would be wonderful for me. I’ll be able to play in a safe environment for a little while. I might have a second try at the Tiger Woods Rollercoaster. “I got on the same time as he did, and I would love to be a part of the Champions Tour experience.”

Geoff Ogilvy, in a recent interview for Golfweek said that he expected Tiger to play more often and take advantage of the fact that he can use a cart.

“I believe the Champions Tour is about to reshape itself.” Ogilvy stated, “I fully expect Tiger will play.” “Taking a car changes everything for him.” Both sponsors and fans will be interested in this event. When he plays, I think the Champions Tour ratings could top those of the PGA Tour. What else will he do?”

Brian Gay, 51, who splits his time between both circuits, doesn’t think Woods will play in the 50 and over league.

“Everyone says that, but I don’t really believe it. Maybe a few majors and some other stuff. Gay stated that Gay would not be playing a full-season. “I didn’t ask him, but he has been telling the guys that he is looking forward to this.” “I’ll believe it once I see it.”

Gay added: “I met Stewart Cink yesterday at lunch and he was with Tiger. Tiger asked Stewart about the Senior Tour. At least there’s interest.”

Tiger’s ability to play could make senior golf one of the most popular sports in the world. Tiger Woods’ fans were eagerly awaiting his latest return. However, a source was not so sure about Tiger’s decision to descend a staircase. A source said that Woods was not happy about having to descend the stairs in the clubhouse.

It is not clear whether Tiger will be practicing for the Masters next month, or next April. It will be two years before we can tell how interested he is in senior golf. Stay tuned.
