Streamsong Resort, Florida – which already has three well-respected courses – will start construction on The Chain in March. There have been some tweaks to the layout and a new route that was extended to 19 holes.
The plans for The Chain were first announced in 2022. The architecture team of Bill Coore, Ben Crenshaw, and Ben Crenshaw designed 18 holes. They could be broken into a 6-hole loop, 12-hole loop, or the entire 18. Officials at Streamsong expect to open The Chain in the fall.
Coore modified the original routing to accommodate environmental considerations, moving some greens and tees around. With the original six-hole loop unchanged, the new routing allows for an additional hole. The changes will be made to the newly altered 13-hole loop. The Chain will also have a two-acre green, as well as its own clubhouse and food and beverage options.
The Chain’s Holes will be between 90 and more than 275 yards. The layout will cover approximately 3,000 yards.
The Chain will be located on approximately 100 acres directly opposite Streamsong’s Lodge. This will allow players to walk over for additional golf before or after a round of play on any of the resort’s full-size course. Streamsong’s Red Course is No. 2nd in Florida on Golfweek’s Best List of Public-Access Courses. The Black No. The Blue is at the No. 4 spot. These courses are also included in Golfweek’s Top 60 list of the best modern courses in America.
Streamsong Resort was established by Mosaic mining company just over a century ago. The resort was bought earlier this monthby KemperSports, a national owner and operator 140 courses.
