The total purse for this year’s Players is $25 million. This is the highest amount on the PGA Tour, and the largest of any of the four major championships. The winner will receive a $4.5 million check. The total purse is equal to LIV Golf League events, but the winner of LIV individual tournaments earns $4,000,000.
The early years of The Players have modest purses and first-place checks. It was considered too expensive to pass up by the best players back then. This is still true, except for LIV Golf players.
