Taylor Moore birdied on two of his last four holes to win his first PGA Tour title at Valspar Championship.
Moore, 29 years old, erased a three stroke overnight deficit by shooting 4-under-67 Sunday at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, Florida. Moore ended with a 72-hole total score of 10-under 274 for Moore, one stroke more than Adam Schenk, and two better than Jordan Spieth or Tommy Fleetwood.
Moore had not finished in the top 10 on this year’s PGA Tour. Moore entered the week ranked No. He was ranked No.103 in the world. However, he made an 18-foot birdie at nine to join the trophy hunting and stayed his approach shot within 5 feet of the 12 th to move a stroke closer. Moore hit back-to-back birdies at 15 and 16, a 6-footer at 15, and a 27 footer at 16. To tie Schenk for first at 10 under, Moore also made a 7-footer at 15.

Schenk, 31 years old, participated in his 10th th consecutive tournament to try and get as many FedEx Cup Points as possible before the birth his first child. Kourtney, his wife, flew in Sunday morning to walk the whole round in his gallery.
Schenk, 54-hole leader, chipped for birdie at first, and then built a two stroke leader before falling with bogeys. 6, and 8. He responded with birdies at Nos. He drained a 23-foot birdie shot at Nos. 7 and 9. This was Schenk’s longest putt at the tournament, but it didn’t last very long. Schenk made a 71-foot birdie at 12 to take the lead at 10-under. He also lifted his right arm high into the air. He managed five consecutive pars, hooking his drive by a tree at 18, and then had to play his next shot with his left hand. Moore was tied at 41 feet with Moore’s par putt, which forced a playoff. But it didn’t go down. He ended with a 70.

Spieth, 29 years old, won the tournament in 2015. He was looking for his 14th Tour title. To join the 10 under party, he made a 10-foot birdie shot at 14. Spieth did a great job from the sand. He got up and down 12 times in a row, including at the challenging par-3 15 , to keep the day bogey-free. He missed his tee shot at 16 the, the dogleg par-4 hole. At 17, he missed a 7-foot birdie shot and didn’t manage to get a 48 foot birdie shot. He missed the comebacker, but finished tied for third with Fleetwood.
The 32-year old Englishman is a winner on six DP World Tours and was ranked as high as No. He is currently ranked 9th in the world, but he has yet to win on the PGA Tour. He was in the lead when he made a par-5 at the 14 th hole. He finished in 70. Despite being winless, Fleetwood’s total career earnings on the PGA Tour exceeded $15 million.
Sam Burns, the two-time defending champion, was unable to complete a three-peat. However, he made a valiant effort and finished sixth with a final-round score of 67.
Moore answered the question “Well, I grew up as a baseball player, so I was a very high-level player up until about 15 years of age. I actually received a scholarship from Arkansas for my baseball training before I decided to pursue this sport.”
“I kind of fell in love golf as a teenager and being able to control a small amount of everything, instead of having to rely on umpires or teammates. I could win or lose by myself.
He was crowned champion of the PGA Tour on Sunday.
