TaylorMade Qi10LS added to USGA Conforming List

Nov, 2023

TaylorMade launched its first carbon fibre-faced driver two years ago, the Stealth. Last season, Stealth 2 was released. The USGA has added the Qi10 LS to its list of Conforming Drivers, which makes it legal to use in tournaments like this week’s PGA Tour, RSM Classic.

TaylorMade did not release any information about the club. However, we can tell a lot about it by looking at the image of the club on the USGA website.

  • Lofts The USGA states that the Qi10 comes in versions of 8-, nine- and 10 degree lofts. This means that it has been tried in all three lofts and is compliant with the Rules of Golf.
  • Carbon Face:The USGA notes state that the face is made of carbon fiber. This is not surprising. TaylorMade said Golfweek that it did not plan to use titanium for driver faces in the future. The crown of the Qi10 LS is not known, but TaylorMade’s drivers have featured carbon fiber crowns for many years. It would be surprising if this crown was not carbon fiber.

  • Slide weight: In the photo a sliding weight is clearly visible in the front sole behind a Speed Pocket Slot. On the toe and heel sides of the weight is the word “Draw”. The bolt at the center would seem to allow players or fitters to move the weight to shift the center gravity and create a bias for either draw or fade.
  • Back Weight: In the USGA notes, a weight port is mentioned in the back sole. As more brands are using carbon fiber for the crown of the club and the sole center, some drivers have added weights to the front and the back of their heads.
  • More Qi10 Drivers Coming:The USGA Notes mention that “Qi10-LS” is on the sole and we can also see it on the image. However, “Qi10′ is on the heel. In recent years, LS has become synonymous with low spin. It would therefore not be surprising if a Qi10 standard model and a Qi10HD model were made available for retail.
  • Release Date: Although we don’t yet have a retail release date for Qi10 LS in the US, pros are now able to use it on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and LPGA. TaylorMade releases its new drivers in January.
