TaylorMade releases BRNR Mini Driver inspired by Ti Bubble 2

Apr, 2023

TaylorMade’s latest release is even more a nod to nostalgia, a powerful elixir that golf gear junkies crave.

The 2023 edition of TaylorMade Mini Driver’s series — which in recent years has included nostalgic nods to the Original One Driver and 300 Mini Driver — is the 304cc BRNR mini driver.

The Ti Bubble 2 driver from the mid-90s is well remembered by golfers who are of a certain generation. Mark O’Meara also used one on his way to the 1998 Masters victory. The shaft was significantly lighter than other products on the market.

Below is a look at the Ti Bubble 2 Driver.

The BRNR Mini Driver is a throwback to the Ti Bubble 2 and features black and copper tones, as well as the TaylorMade logo from the mid-90s. The UST ProForce shaft is also black and copper to pay homage to the original Burner bubble.

Oh, the headcovers are retro!

The BRNR was very popular with the tour players during testing, particularly at the first major. It is a fairway finder that can be used on difficult tee shots or on approach shots to par fives. BRNR is a versatile club that offers reliability and versatility off the tee. The club can be adjusted to provide the distance and shot-shaping ability needed on narrower courses.

The 2023 TaylorMade BRNR mini driver: Key technologies

Ti Bubble 2 inspired K-soles for a smoother turf interaction, and the ability to “driver off of the deck”.

The club can be fine-tuned by adjusting the weights. A 13-gram-weight at the back and a 1,5-gram-weight in front. According to the company, placing the heavier weight in front reduces spin by 200 RPMs.

Why Play a Mini Driver?

TaylorMade has found that two types of golfers tend to gravitate towards a mini-driver. It’s a great addition to the standard driver for players who want a “fairway finder” driver that is also able to be used off the deck. TaylorMade suggests a mini to golfers that have trouble hitting 460cc drivers. This is a more effective alternative to a 3-wood.
