On Friday, the United States made some history. But not in a positive way.
The Americans did not win a match at 2023 Ryder Cup on Friday, at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome, Italy. This is the first time that the U.S. has gone a whole day without winning at the event, which dates back nearly 100 years.

The Europeans swept past the Americans in fourballs in the morning, adding 2 1/2 points in afternoon fourballs. They now have a lead of 6 1/2-11/2 after Day 1.
