The Junior Ryder Cup was won by Team Europe, which ended a six-match losing streak to the Americans. They beat the Americans 20 1/2-9 1/2 in Rome at the Marco Simone Golf Club. The Europeans won seven out of 12 singles matches, and tied three more to earn 8.5 points.
After winning all six matches in the fourball competition on Wednesday, Europe has a 12-6 advantage. After the first day, both teams had a score of 6.
Stephen Gallacher (2014 Ryder Cup player) led the European team, while Paul Levy, former president of the PGA, captained the U.S.
Nicholas Gross and Billy Davis are the only Americans who won their singles matches Thursday. Anna Davis, Billy Davis’ twin sister, lost her match as did Leigh Chien, Kylie Chong, and Kylie Chong.
The first two round were played at Golf Nazionale, Rome. After that the final round was held at Marco Simone. The singles matches took place for the first time on a third-day and at the location of the current Ryder Cup.
The U.S. has a record of 7-4-1 in this biennial competition. Six boys and six girl U.S. citizen high school graduates from the class of 2024 and younger will make up this team.
