The team that will represent New York in TGL will be managed and coached by Cohen Private Ventures. It will compete in the first season of TGL, which will begin in January 2024. Cohen and Mike McCarley CEO of TMRW Sports, and TGL, made the announcement on Thursday.

In a press release, Cohen, Chairman and CEO of Point72, and owner of Mets since 2020 said, “As the game of golf continues to grow, there is a need for improved access to it and to the top players in the world.” TGL’s schedule for primetime will provide a fast-paced and innovative view of the sport, which will appeal to both traditional golf fans and new ones.

Said McCarley, “The addition to TGL of New York not only continues to add major markets to TGL but also adds a ownership group with strong connections to other major league clubs and fanbases.”

TGL announced previously its first three ownership groups:

  • TGL Atlanta led by Arthur M. Blank

  • Fenway Sports Group, TGL Boston

  • Los Angeles Golf Club, led by Alexei Ohanian, Serena Williams and Venus Williams. Limited partners are the Antetokounmpo Brothers

The primetime league will take place in an arena built specifically for the event in Palm Beach State College, Florida. Currently, twelve players have committed to play in TGL, including Tiger Woods. Rory McIlroy. Jon Rahm. Justin Thomas. Collin Morikawa. Matt Fitzpatrick. Justin Rose. Adam Scott. Xander Schauffele. Max Homa. Rickie Fowler.
