The inaugural Grant Thornton Invitational has arrived and is sure to be an exciting week at Tiburon Golf Club, in Naples Florida.
PGA Tour stars and LPGA players have teamed up to battle it out over three days. The first round is a scramble. The second will be foursomes, with alternate shots. A new format will be used on Sunday. The modified fourball is played by both players. They each hit a teeshot, then switch balls for their second shot and play that ball until the hole is completed. The team will be awarded the lowest score of the two.
Some notable pairings include: Tony Finau/Nelly Ko, Ricky Fowler/Lexi Thompson and Lydia Ko/Jason Day. Lilia Vu, ranked No.1, will be paired with Joel Dahmen.
This is the first time since 1999 that the Tour and LPGA have co-sponsored an event.
