Amateurs make up nearly 20 percent of the U.S. Women’s Open field.
The top amateurs are always at the major championships. But a big chunk of Pebble Beach’s field has not turned professional.
Pebble Beach will be contested by 28 amateurs. Alabama, Stanford Texas and UCLA are the four colleges that have two each. The amateur competition features 11 countries.
Ingrid Lindblad is not in the field, but Saki Baba, who won the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur at Chambers Bay and ranks second on World Amateur Golf Rankings. Saki Baba (No. 2), the second-ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and winner of the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Chambers Bay is in the field.
