When Lexi Thompson learned she’d received a sponsor’s exemption for the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open she didn’t intend to make demands of the tournament’s organizers. The LPGA star wanted to be accepted, part of the group.
Thompson is set to be the first woman to play the PGA Tour in over a decade, after Brittany Lincicome played at the Barbasol Championship 2018. Those behind the scenes wanted to ensure that Thompson was comfortable.
Thompson has a large RV parked just behind the driving range. It gives him plenty of space to relax and prepare himself for the day.
This week, the 11-time LPGA champion admitted that it was more than what she expected.
These are the 7 women to play on the PGA Tour
“It’s amazing. It’s amazing. I mean, when I opened it up, there was a bed inside. La-Z-Boys were in the room. Thompson told golfweek, “I’m going to be here relaxing if you don’t find me.” “I was definitely shocked.”
Thompson doesn’t usually lounge around in the dressing rooms. Thompson is known for being a quick entrant and exiter, so she didn’t really need the special set-up.
Brett Falkoff who represents Thompson and others such as Bryson deChambeau said: “She spends very little time in the changing room.” “I mean, she often puts on her shoes in the car. It’s a good setup for her.
Leo, Lexi’s puppy, has won the day.
She said, “My dog has been living it up this week.”
