In two weeks, the dormant former Seven Hills Country Club in Lake Township, Ohio will be sold at auction.
Kaufman Realty & Auctions of Sugarcreek is handling the two-day auction. On December 15, the 160 acres, buildings and house will be offered at noon. On the following day, restaurant and golf course equipment as well as maintenance will be sold separately.
Kaufman auctioneer and realtor Jr. Miller said, “I know that there are some people who would like it to stay a golf course.”
It still could be.
It all depends on what you want to buy.
Parts, pieces or the whole?
Sales will start on December 15 with a custom-built, adjacent four-bedroom home of 4,900 square feet. It is situated on five acres. The clubhouse and outbuildings will then be sold on a parcel of 20 acres.
There are eight separate 18-hole courses, with sizes ranging from 5 to 42 acres.

Miller said that there will be multiple opportunities for bidders as the auction unfolds to purchase the clubhouse and buildings as well as the course property in a single package.
He said that the decision would be made by the buyer.
The William Penn Avenue NE golf course was constructed in 1968. The Gran family owned the course for the majority of the last half century, when it was often rated as one of the best public courses in the area. Bill Newcomb designed the course. He was an apprentice of Pete Dye’s before starting his own company and designing courses across the country. His other courses include Alpine at Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne, Polo Fields Golf & Country Club Louisville and Anchorage Golf Course.
In 2020, the Grans sold this house and two others adjacent to it for $2.7million. James Gesiotto and his family, including a Mount Eaton Dentist, led the group of buyers.
The course was open for most of 2022, but closed this season.
Howard Hanna Real Estate Services listed the golf course, clubhouse and two houses for $4.3M earlier this year.
Miller stated that the auctions include unpublicized reserves, meaning the owners set a minimum price they must reach in order to complete the sale.
Miller stated, “It is fair and reasonable.”
The property is already zoned for homes
Open house will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Monday.
The auctions on December 15 will take place simultaneously both online and in-person. On Dec. 16, equipment sales will only be conducted in person from 10 am to 11:15 am. Online access to about 12 pieces of large equipment will be available at 11:30.
Seven Hills Country Club is being auctioned over a two-day period.
Seven Hills is zoned as low-density housing, so houses can be built.
The zoning code of the township allows lots from less than half an acre up to two acres.
The Canton Repository reported that the Township Zoning Administrator Nicole Wilkinson had previously stated that any new development, other than a course of golf, would have to be approved by the Stark County Regional Planning Commission.
