The LPGA Tournament of Champions is headlined by Lydia Ko, Nelly Korda, and Lilia Vu. This year, many of the top players are sitting out.

Next week, the LPGA season will begin with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. World No. The field is headed by World No. Vu is the first player to be eligible, having won her first career title at the Honda LPGA Thailand in February last year and then went on win three other titles including two majors.

The season opener takes place from Jan. 18-21, at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club located in Orlando, Florida. LPGA champions from the last two seasons will compete for $1.5 million in prize money, while celebrities will be competing for $500,000.

Annika Sorenstam, a Lake Nona resident, will once again compete in the celebrity field, along with NBC’s Dylan Dreyer and Landon Donovan. Vince Carter is an eight-time NBA All-Star, Chris Lane, a country music singer, and World Series champion John Smoltz.

The first event of the 2024 season will be played by Vu and Ruoning Yin, ranked No. Six players in the top 10 Rolex Rankings will skip the first tournament. Many international players prefer a longer offseason to the benefits of the TOC.

The LPGA Drive On in Bradenton is the next week’s event, and the two Florida events will be followed by three weeks of rest before the spring Asian tour begins in Thailand.
