Northern Bear Golf Course, located in Sherwood Park in Alberta, is one of only three Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses to be found in Canada. The course has a contract with the PGA Tour Americas until 2025. The iconic clubhouse of the course, which is located about 40 minutes away from downtown Edmonton, caught fire Saturday morning.

The neighbors saw the smoke billowing from the building and contacted the authorities. They sent multiple emergency vehicles to the site. Crews encountered frozen lines and pump ports on site due to the low temperatures and wind chill. Dana Terry is deputy chief of operations at Strathcona County Emergency Services Department.

The ATB Classic is scheduled for June 27-30. The ATB Classic for this year is scheduled from June 27-30.

The building was a total wreck, with only the skeletal remains remaining in the Alberta winter cold. The temperatures in the area aren’t expected to rise above zero Fahrenheit before Friday.

The club’s Facebook page posted a message thanking the crews who fought the fire under such difficult conditions.

“We’re all devastated by the loss of our beautiful Clubhouse. We are grateful that no one was in the clubhouse at the time and no one was injured. The Strathcona Fire Department deserves our thanks for the work they did in treacherous conditions. “Thank you for your well wishes. We promise to rebuild even better than before,” said the post.
