Carl Yuan should not be at the Sony Open Hawaii.
This PGA Tour and the golfing world are different than ever before. He is. He’s taking advantage.
Yuan was ranked No. Yuan finished last season No. He was not going to be able play in the Sony Open Hawaii or have full status in the PGA Tour.
Thank you, Jon Rahm
Yuan’s second-round score of 65 was 5 under par, bringing his tournament total to 9 under par. Rahm’s move to LIV Golf and Yuan’s inclusion in the field is what got him into the field.
Yuan takes full advantage of this in his first tournament for 2024. He is tied with the leader heading into the weekend in Hawaii.

Yuan replied, “Hopefully not,” when asked if he thought he would be remembered as the guy who was last to enter. “Hopefully my score and performance should cover that part. Just looking forward to another Tour year. “I feel more prepared to be out here after my first year.
He began his day with a par at the first hole and then bogeyed on the third. Yuan birdied three of his four next holes, turning 3 under. He added two more in the final stretch to finish with a 65. Yuan shares the lead with Austin Eckroat, Byeong Hun An and others at 9 under.
Last season, the 26-year old had two top-10 finishes. Both were in the fall and both came at the Sanderson Farms Championships (T-6). He finished just one shot short of a play-off at the Sanderson.

Yuan stated, “I had two chances last year as the final group. Have a shot at the weekend.” “Yeah I feel like I have to do what I did the last two days, be patient and commit, know what I am going to do before hitting a shot, and see how it comes out.”
