The Skinny Titleist improved the consistency of their T100 irons by improving the way the faces were made, and continued to boost the blend between workability and stabilty.

The Deep Dive Titleist’s designers and engineers who worked on their new T100 irons had a similar task to those who have been working on Pro V1 or Pro V1x balls for years: don’t change a thing, but improve it.

Titleist T100 Irons are popular with PGA Tour and elite players because they combine a compact design and control that players prefer, along with a little forgiveness. Jordan Spieth and Cameron Smith have won titles with these irons.

Titleist has improved the manufacturing of the hitting surfaces and faces to make them more consistent. The face of every iron was flattened by a high-speed, wide milling bit. After the grooves had been added, the bit left circular marks on the face. It was therefore necessary to remove the marks before applying the chrome plating. After adjusting how the bit moves over the face, titleist claims that the polishing step will no longer be necessary. This means the grooves should be sharper, and clubs should perform better.

The 2023 irons are designed in a similar way to the T100 version, with a dual cavity construction. This combines a forged SUP-10 stainless steel body and face with a cap piece made of 17-7 stainless steel at the rear. Designers added tungsten pieces to the cap in the heel-toe area. Each club contains an average of 80 grams tungsten, the larger piece at the toe being added to offset the weight of hosels and pull the optimal hitting area to the center of face.

The tungsten creates additional perimeter weighting. This gives the T100 a compact overall length and blade size but it also has more stability and is less likely to twist when struck off-center.

Titleist has reduced the center of gravity on its 3-, 4-, and 5-irons in order to promote a higher launch angle and an increased angle of descent. This will increase stopping power at the greens.

Designers gave the trailing edges an upward curve to improve turf interaction, and also help golfers maintain their speed on the turf. This is in contrast to the previous T100 irons that had a more angular relief.

The updated T100 irons and T150 are very similar from a cosmetic perspective. Both clubs have the exact same lofts (5 – iron at 25 degrees and pitching wedge 46 degrees).
