The Watering Hole: LIV Golf Party Hole in Australia builds anticipation

Apr, 2023

The PGA Tour WM Phoenix Open’s par-3 16 th Stadium hole is “The Coliseum.” The Zurich Classic of New Orleans used to feature first tee music walk-up for its two-man team in the past. This year, it will be a bit different with a new DJ.

The LIV Golf League will borrow ideas and tactics from its competitors in the professional golf world when it returns to action on Friday, at the Grange Golf Club, Adelaide, South Australia.

As of the upstart circuit says, imitation can be the best form of flattery.

LIV Golf will have a party hole called the Watering Hole, which features a few bars surrounding the stadium build out at the Grange par-3 12 thhole as well as live DJ. The players will also be able to choose their own walk-out song when they get on the tee.

“I am excited to see the hole. Listen, I have always enjoyed playing Phoenix. I thought that having an amphitheater-type crowd around a particular hole was pretty special. I have also had success in Phoenix. Brooks Koepka said, “Who knows, maybe next week.” He chose Meek Mill’s song Dreams and Nightmares for his song. It was a fitting description of his second-place finish at the Masters this month.

I love it. I love it when the fans are a bit rowdy. They scream, they boo you when you make a bad shot, and they cheer you on when it’s a good shot. Koepka added, “It’s going make that hole exciting.” It’s going to be a cool atmosphere and, as (Dustin Johnson said), it will be the most fans that we’ve ever had, so it is exciting.

In the past, LIV officials have limited tickets. But this week they won’t. The new circuit, led by Greg Norman with financial backing from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, is expecting to have 60,000 fans in Adelaide. The LIV loves to promote its slogan “Golf But Louder”, and the first event to be held in Australia is a prime example of what it wants tournaments to appear like.

Johnson, who still hasn’t chosen a song, said: “I think the atmosphere will be fantastic.” The amount of people who will be there every day is going to create a great atmosphere. As golfers, we love to play in front of the many spectators. “The more people the better.”

LIV Golf has only held four events this season, and twelve th in total since reshaping the pro-golf scene last summer. The momentum that dominated headlines throughout 2022 has now slowed down in 2023, due to the quiet offseason, mediocre new signings and the recent legal decisions in the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The Watering Hole in Adelaide and the atmosphere should be fun both for Australian fans and spectators.

This week, LIV can regain some of, but not all of, that momentum.
