DUBLIN (Ohio) – Chad Ramey had a terrible finish to his first round at the Memorial.
Ramey scored a 13 at the ninth hole of Muirfield Village Golf Club on Thursday.
Ramey drove his driver 106 yards to the middle of the fairway at the par-4 distance of 401 yards. Flip wedges are the domain of a pro, who won last year’s Corales Puntacana Championship. Ramey’s life became messy or, shall we say, a case of rinse and repeat.
Three of his subsequent attempts to clear water in front of the green failed and ended up in the water. He fired his final th with a shot that was 31 feet beyond the hole. He also missed his comebacker and smashed the downhill putt by 6 feet. Ramey cleaned up his game from 2 feet 4 inches to 13
Ramey was in good form until he went off the rails on the last hole. However, the nine-over finish on No. He signed for Michael Irvin, an 88.

Ramey’s score at the Memorial is the best since Larry Mize scored an 88 on the second hole of the 2008 tournament. His 13 on the 9th is the highest ever score in tournament history. (Previously, two players made a nine-on-nine. Most recently Daniel Summerhays did so in the second round of 2018.
Ramey was not the only person to have a seat in the struggle bus. In the first round, his 88 was just one of eight shots in the 80s. The saying goes that misery loves company.
