The PGA Championship allowed players to use rangefinders to measure the distance of their shots. The PGA of America allowed range finders for the third time. The first was at Kiawah in the PGA Championship of 2021.
Padraig harrington, a three-time major winner, is one of the players who believes that range finders should become a permanent part of the rules for professional golf.
After using a distance finder in the last two weeks @PGAChampionshipand @seniorpgachamp I have come to believe that we should be using them at all tournaments. They are a great tool for speeding up play when players have an awkward yardage. @DPWorldTour @PGATOUR pic.twitter.com/QNwYB0uMfJ

Golf fans are likely to welcome any changes that will help speed up the game. Thomas Bjorn, the former Ryder Cup Captain, tweeted that he agreed with Harrington.
