You don’t see many golfers making holes in one at professional tournaments. Even the best golfers in the world have a hard time achieving that.
You’ll almost never see a player make a par 4 on the course.
Aldrich potgieter doesn’t need to know.
The South African teenager who turned professional recently aced a 403-yard par 4 during a qualifying round for the PGA Tour’s 2023 John Deere classic at Pinnacle Country Club, Milan, Illinois. He didn’t even see the ball hit the hole. It wasn’t until his caddie on the fairway in front of him that he realized it had been a success.
Only one ace has ever been recorded in the history of the PGA Tour on a par 4. That was Andrew McGee’s at the 2001 Phoenix Open.

Potgieter, 18 years old, finished with a 6 under 66. He shot 5 under on his last five holes. But he was one shot short of making the cut.
He played his first professional round two weeks ago in Norman, Oklahoma at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Compliance Solutions Championship. Last week, he competed at the Rocket Mortgage Classic where he failed to make the cut. This year he also played in the U.S. Open and the Masters. He made the cut at Los Angeles Country Club, finishing 64th.
