A hole-in one is one of golf’s most difficult feats. Even for professionals, it’s not something that happens often.
Three in one day! The 2023 U.S. girls’ junior was held at Eisenhower Golf Club Blue Course, Colorado Springs.
Three players each carded an ace in the first round. Veronika Exposito, of The Woodlands in Texas, hit a 5-hybrid on the third from 162 yards away. Emerie Schartz, from Wichita in Kansas, then aced the seventh hole at 143 yards with a 7-iron. Angela Zhang, a 2023 U.S. Women’s Open qualifying player, mimicked Schartz by using a 7-iron on the seventh.
These aces represent the 23rd, 24th, and 25th holes-in-1 in the history of the championship, and the first since the year 2021. It was Schartz’s second competitive ace of the month.

Three holes-in one is the record for a U.S. Junior Girls. In 2004, three holes-in-one were made at Mira Vista Golf Club, Fort Worth, Texas. One of them was by future U.S. Women’s Open winner Paula Creamer.
Anna Davis, 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion, shot a 4-under-68 in the first round and was tied with four other players for the lead. Eight birdies were recorded in her round, but she also made four bogeys.
Tuesday is the second day of stroke play. After the stroke play is finished, the top 64 players will move on to match play.
