PACIFIC PALISADES (Calif.) – Tiger Woods has apologized for his tasteless prank.
He beat Justin Thomas, one his fellow competitors, on the ninth green of the Genesis Invitational. Woods then slipped him a female hygiene product . A photographer captured the moment and it went viral on social media.
Christine Brennan, USA Today columnist, summarized the problem with Woods’s sophomoric joke.
“Woods’ message was clear to Thomas. This has been the standard line for insecure, silly boys for many generations: “You play like a girl,” she wrote.
After his Friday round, Woods was asked about his thoughts behind the Tampon Pranks.
He said, “It was supposed be fun and games, and obviously it hasn’t turned out that manner.” “If I offended anyone, it wasn’t the case. It was just friends having fun. I am sorry if I have offended anyone in any way shape or form. It wasn’t meant to be this way. We just played pranks on each other all the time, and virally I don’t think it came across that way.
