Tiger Woods displayed signs of resilience on Sunday, but didn’t have enough stamina for a run.
After dazzling the crowd in the third round, the 15-time major champion finished his PGA Tour return on Sunday with a 2-over 73 at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. He walked off the course tied for 45th after a stunning round three.
Woods opened the final round by making a birdie on the first hole. He then saved a few pars as the wheels of his round began to slowly fall off. The fairway at No. 5, he missed the green short, left, chipped on, and then missed his par 4 footer. He made two more bogeys at Nos. After both drives, 8 and 9 found fairway bunkers, leading him to unsuccessful attempts to scramble to par.
Another bogey was caused by a flubbed chip on No. 12 but Woods managed to rebound with a 30 footer for birdie on the fringe of his next hole. Woods made a par 5 on the par-4 15th and responded with a dart to par-3 16th green.

The results of Sunday’s 72-hole round of golf were not as good as the three previous rounds. His ball speed, distance from the tee, and accuracy percentages were lower than they had been in the past. This has happened before.
Woods’ recent return to PGA Tour action revealed that the 82-time winner still has the desire to win, and that at 47, he still has the ability to play with the best.
It’s all about stamina.
