Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth and the new PGA Tour Board members weigh in on the rumors that Jon Rahm may leave for LIV

NASSAU (Bahamas) — Rumors persist that Jon Rahm may be considering a lucrative deal to join LIV Golf.

They are merely rumors for now. Rahm has remained silent on the matter, leaving his peers to answer questions. Jordan Spieth who replaced Rory McIlroy on the PGA Tour Policy Board was asked about Rahm’s departure after his round.

Spieth, who shot 67 on Friday in the Hero World Challenge’s second round, said: “I don’t know how it would affect those negotiations. But overall, Jon Rahm represents one of our biggest assets on the PGA Tour.” Spieth said that it would be bad for the PGA Tour in general, because they want to compete against the world’s best players, which is what Jon Rahm is.

I know that some men have spoken to him. I’m sure he is weighing decisions. I’m not sure, so I won’t insult him by saying he weighs decisions when he knows he doesn’t or is. It’s a little out of my hands.

“I’m sure I can speak for 200+ PGA Tour players when I say that we hope he continues with us.”

He was then asked to elaborate on what he could say to Rahm to get him to stay.

It would be insulting to play this game and ask him these questions. Spieth suggested that he might find it insulting. If it was me, I’m not sure if I would have received an offer. But I enjoy playing four rounds of stroke-play the same way as we do in the majors. I think we are playing against some of the best players on the planet, and I have always wanted to come out and play here to try and catch PGA Tour victories, or catch legends in the game. It’s about history, and money is a bonus.”

Tiger Woods was asked if he was surprised that there was so much talk about players returning to LIV after the framework agreement on June 6. “Would it surprise you, hypothetically? You’re right, but so many things have happened, not only in the past 48 hours, but also the last few days. Things are changing and will continue to evolve. “Our deadline is coming up soon. There are a lot moving parts and a lot different things happening very quickly, because we know that today, the first of December, we do not have much time.”

Woods was asked if he was surprised. He replied, “Nothing really has surprised me except the fact that so many things have happened so quickly.” All of us, as player directors, have been working hard on this. Everything is in a rush now. It’s 24 hour a day trying to figure out what is going on.”

In June, the PGA Tour and DP World Tour announced that an agreement would be reached by the end the year.
