To the disappointment of his Hero World Challenge fans, Tiger Woods pulled out due to Plantar Fasciitis Monday. This shocked many who had been eager to see the 15-time major champion returning to competitive golf.
The news was not all bad. Soon after he made his WD announcement, he gave golfers something to look forward too in 2024 when he announced that Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm would be joining him and Rory McIlroy in their new, tech-infused league, the TGL.
TGL will consist of six teams made up of three PGA Tour players. The matches will take place on Monday nights beginning January 2024. Fans can view every shot on primetime television as the contests are held on virtual courses.
Welcome to @TGL @JustinThomas34, @JonRahmpga. We will see you guys on Monday nights in 2024. https://t.co/zW42YASMcL

Woods stated that TGL was the next generation of professional golf and that he is committed to leading it into the future. “We can make our sport a major sports event by embracing technology and creating this unique environment.”
